Dr Peter Nichols is the Managing Director of Banksia Ecology Pty Ltd (ABN 94 119 591 892) and is the Company’s principal ecologist, landscape and arboricultural specialist. He has had substantial experience in the field of ecological research and assessment, landscape horticulture and urban tree management. Projects include broad scale open space planning, specific environmental and ecological assessment and research, residential landscape design and construction, commercial and residential landscape experience, experience with over two decades of landscape design and assessment, arboricultural consulting, over fifty cases as an expert witness in the NSW Land and Environment Court, and over five years of ecological assessment and research experience.

• Post Graduate Diploma - Environmental Studies (Macquarie University)
• Bachelor of Science - Urban Horticulture (University of Technology Sydney)
• Associate Diploma of Applied Science in Horticulture (Burnley College, Melbourne University)
• Statement of Attainment - Arboriculture Techniques  (Ryde TAFE)

Peter was awarded his PhD after completing his Thesis which was a research project that involved the development of an evaluation methodology which focused on the restoration of abandoned agricultural land. Prior to the establishment of Banksia Ecology Pty Ltd, he was employed within local government as a professional consulting ecologist and environmental scientist for over eleven years. Current clients include the Commonwealth Department of Defence (research and monitoring) and the Catholic Diocese of Broken Bay (ecological assessment) and INCOLL - Project Management (National Youth Indigenous Development Centre, Redfern).
